In December 2019, the quantity of balancing electricity, purchased (sold) through ESCO was 299 370 865.5 kWh, which represents 25% of total delivery to the grid in mentioned month. The cost of balancing electricity have made up GEL 44 096 512.

In December, the Weighted Average Price of balancing electricity per kWh made up 14.7297273Tetri, while the price of balancing electricity of the deregulated hydro power plants was 12.304 Tetri.

During the mentioned reporting period, the balancing electricity, purchased by ESCO, mainly consisted of the imported electricity. The share of hydro power plants in total volume of balancing electricity was 24.5%, the share of wind farm 2.3%, the share of thermal power plants 2.9%, whereas the share of import was 70.3%.

In December 2019, the distribution companies and the direct consumers bought the balancing electricity from ESCO. Their equity participation in balancing electricity purchase, respectively, was 45.7% and 40.0%. In December, the Dispatch Licensee bought balancing electricity to cover losses in the transmission network, whose share in the purchase of balancing electricity was 6.4%. In addition, Abkhazia’s consumption was partially secured at the expense of balancing electricity, which makes up 7.8% of balancing electricity, totally purchased in December. At the same time, in order to ensure the transit, the Dispatch Licensee, whose share in the purchase of balancing electricity was 0.1%, has bought the losses.
