From July 07, 2026, the Electricity Market Operator has registered the “Tchiora HPP” LLC to take part in the wholesale trade as Direct Customer, in accordance with the “Electricity (Capacity) Market Rules”.
From July 02, 2025, the Electricity Market Operator has cancelled the registration of “Tchiora HPP” LLC, in the part of Chiora HPP, as a Power Plant During the Test Run and/or a Comprehensive Testing and in accordance with the “Electricity (Capacity) Market Rules”, it is no more considered as a wholesale trade participant.
As part of its ongoing commitment to European energy cooperation, the Georgian Electricity Market Operator (ESCO), an Associate Member of the European Association of Energy Exchanges (EUROPEX), participated in the organization’s General Assembly, held in Bled, Slovenia.
A delegation from the Electricity Market Operator, led by its General Director, Tornike Kazarashvili, conducted a series of business meetings in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in June of this year with Slovenia’s electricity market operator, BORZEN, and the Slovenian Energy Exchange - BSP SouthPool Energy Exchange LLC.
In May 2026, the quantity of balancing electricity, purchased (sold) through ESCO was 268 208 567.3 kWh, which represents 23% of total delivery to the grid in mentioned month. The cost of balancing electricity has made up GEL 36 923 196.17.

In May, the Weighted Average Price of balancing electricity per kWh made up 13.786334308 Tetri, while the price of balancing electricity of the deregulated hydro power plants was 4.021 Tetri.
From June 3, 2026, the Electricity Market Operator has registered the “Iberia Ribari” LLC to take part in the wholesale trade as Direct Customer, in accordance with the “Electricity (Capacity) Market Rules”.
The General Director of ESCO, Tornike Kazarashvili, and the President of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Rovshan Najaf, signed an agreement on electricity purchase, sale, and transit deviations between the two countries.
In April 2026, the quantity of balancing electricity, purchased (sold) through ESCO was 391 150 890.9 kWh, which represents 33% of total delivery to the grid in mentioned month. The cost of balancing electricity has made up GEL 60 424 185.65.

In April, the Weighted Average Price of balancing electricity per kWh made up 15.560657265 Tetri, while the price of balancing electricity of the deregulated hydro power plants was 11.478 Tetri.
On May 13, Tamar Tsurtsumia, Head of International and Investor Relations Department at ESCO, participated in the Electricity Market Integration Forum 2026 in Brussels.
The forum was dedicated to the issues of electricity market integration and development between the European Union and the Energy Community countries. The main discussion topics included the prospects for market integration, regulatory challenges, and the dynamics of forming a unified European energy market.
From May 11, 2026, the Electricity Market Operator has registered the “CitiVolt LLC” LLC to take part in the wholesale trade as Wholesale Electricity Supplier, in accordance with the “Electricity (Capacity) Market Rules”.
