From October 1, 2024, the Electricity Market Operator has cancelled the registration of “KSM EXSPORT-IMPORT” LLC as an importer, exporter and a wholesale supplier of electricity and in accordance with the “Electricity (Capacity) Market Rules”, it is no more considered as a wholesale trade participant.
From September 21, 2024, the Electricity Market Operator has cancelled the registration of “Georgian Investment Group Energy” LLC (in the part of Khobi 2 HPP), as a Power Plant - During the Test Run and/or a Comprehensive Testing and in accordance with the “Electricity (Capacity) Market Rules”, it is no more considered as a wholesale trade participant.
In August 2024, the quantity of balancing electricity, purchased (sold) through ESCO was 195 428 280.5 kWh, which represents 14% of total delivery to the grid in mentioned month. The cost of balancing electricity has made up GEL 30 241 448.

In August, the Weighted Average Price of balancing electricity per kWh made up 15.4741741 Tetri, while the price of balancing electricity of the deregulated hydro power plants was 2.412 Tetri.
From October 1, 2024, the Electricity Market Operator has cancelled the registration of “Electricity Provider” LLC as a wholesale provider of the electricity and in accordance with the “Electricity (Capacity) Market Rules”, it is no more considered as a wholesale trade participant.
The General Director of the Electricity System Commercial Operator (ESCO), Kakhaber Keburia, participated in a global energy system event, held on 25th August this year in Paris, organized by the International Council on Large Electric Systems (CIGRE). The event brought together 9,000 participants from over 100 countries in the energy industry, including 3,600 international experts and other key decision-makers.
From August 2024, the Electricity System Commercial Operator introduced a significant innovation to the sector. Starting from this period, ESCO, in collaboration with the Dispatch Licensee, began the electronic registration of direct contracts and contractual applications based on the changes made to the Electricity (Capacity) Market Rules on 2nd August 2024. This is facilitated through the “Electronic Portal for Contract Registration” available on ESCO's website.
The Electricity System Commercial Operator participated in the General Assembly meetings of the "Association of European Energy Exchanges" (EUROPEX). ESCO's Deputy General Director, Alexander Papiashvili, and the Head of the Department of International and Investor Relations, Tamar Tsurtsumia, delivered a presentation on the development of Georgia’s electricity market and the opening of the Power Exchange. EUROPEX positively evaluated the transitional model presented by ESCO for the Exchange's opening.
From August 20, 2024, the Electricity Market Operator has registered the “Georgian Building Group Betoni” LLC to take part in the wholesale trade as Direct Customer, in accordance with the “Electricity (Capacity) Market Rules”.
In July 2024, the quantity of balancing electricity, purchased (sold) through ESCO was 125 606 342.5 kWh, which represents 8% of total delivery to the grid in mentioned month. The cost of balancing electricity has made up GEL 19 456 915.1.

From August 2024, the registration of direct contracts and contractual applications, by the Electricity Market Operator and Dispatch Licensee, is not carried out in physical form, but electronically, through the "Electronic Portal for Registration of Contracts" on the website of the Electricity Market Operator.
