In January 2021, the quantity of balancing electricity, purchased (sold) through ESCO was 346 047 856.0 kWh, which represents 29% of total delivery to the grid in mentioned month. The cost of balancing electricity has made up GEL 54 064 795.8.

In January, the Weighted Average Price of balancing electricity per kWh made up 15.6235026 Tetri, while the price of balancing electricity of the deregulated hydro power plants was 12.304 Tetri.

During the mentioned reporting period, the balancing electricity, purchased by ESCO, mainly consisted of the electricity generated by thermal power plants. The share of hydro power plants in total volume of balancing electricity was 27%, the share of wind farm 1%, the share of thermal power plants 40%, whereas the share of import was 32%.

In January 2021, the distribution companies and the direct consumers bought the balancing electricity from ESCO. Their equity participation in balancing electricity purchase, respectively, was 86.4% and 8.0%. In January, the Dispatch Licensee bought balancing electricity to cover losses in the transmission network, whose share in the purchase of balancing electricity was 5.5%.
