ESCO General Director's Business Trip to Turkey
On 19-20 November, 2018, the General Director of ESCO, Mr. Vakhtang Ambokadze, and the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mrs. Natia Turnava were on a business trip to Istanbul, Turkey. Business meetings were held with the Electricity Market Operator of Turkey (EPIAS), where the parties discussed the trading schemes available in Turkey, both daily and hourly, as well as the existing practice of operating the organized markets.
Turkey is the only country among the countries neighboring Georgia that has an organized/competitive market for the wholesale trade of electricity through the energy market. Taking into account the above, the parties also discussed the prospects for future cooperation with Turkey, as with a potential ally in the issues of market liberalization and integration with the European markets.
