Visit of Representatives of the Electricity Market Operator in the Czech Republic
On October 20-25, 2007, representatives of the Electricity Market Operator, together with other Georgian energy companies, paid a study visit to the Czech Republic. The visit was planned with the support of the USAID Energy Program and the Czech side.
The purpose of the visit was to share the experience of EU member states on a number of issues in the process of reforming and liberalizing the electricity market in Georgia. During the visit, the process of market liberalization and its stages were discussed along with the distribution of functions and responsibilities in the energy market; market operations; energy efficiency; renewable energy support mechanisms and more as well as provision of practical advices to the Georgian side to address existing and expected challenges.
