The General Director of the Electricity System Commercial Operator Mr. Kakhaber Keburia participated in the presentation of the Renewable Energy Promotion Component at the invitation of the "Make in Georgia" agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.

By the decision of the Government of Georgia, another economic activity - Electricity Generation - was added to “The Business Universal” component of the "Make in Georgia" agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.

Under the said economic activity, in order to receive a loan/leasing, the mandatory condition is that the plants produce solar, wind, or hydro energy and their installed capacity should not exceed 0.5 megawatts.

First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mr. Romeo Mikautadze, Deputy Minister Mr. Irakli Nadareishvili, and Director of “The Make in Georgia” Agency Mr. Mikhail Khidureli provided information about the new component to the representatives of electricity generating companies and answered their questions.

"This program will activate the construction of small hydropower plants in Georgia, which on the one hand is important on the way to our energy independence, and on the other hand, additional revenues, jobs, and income will be created in the country.", - stated First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mr. Romeo Mikautadze. According to him, the agency has already initiated one project within the framework of this project. According to the First Deputy Minister's forecast, several dozen of projects will be carried out within the framework of the project.
