In March 2019, the quantity of balancing electricity, purchased (sold) through ESCO was 287 025 782.7 kWh, which represents 25% of total delivery to the grid in mentioned month. The cost of balancing electricity have made up GEL 38 624 787.5.

In March, the Weighted Average Price of balancing electricity per kWh made up 13.4569052 Tetri, while the price of balancing electricity of the deregulated hydro power plants was 10.614 Tetri.

During the mentioned reporting period, the balancing electricity, purchased by ESCO, mainly consisted of the imported electricity. The share of hydro power plants in total volume of balancing electricity was 32%, the share of wind farm 3%, the share of thermal power plants 24%, whereas the share of import was 41%.

In March, 2019, the distribution companies and the direct consumers bought the balancing electricity from ESCO. Their equity participation in balancing electricity purchase, respectively, was 68.09% and 6.26%. In February, the Dispatch Licensee bought balancing electricity to cover losses in the transmission network, whose share in the purchase of balancing electricity was 6.18%. In addition, Abkhazia’s consumption was partially secured at the expense of balancing electricity, which makes up 19.44% of balancing electricity, totally purchased in February. At the same time, in order to ensure the transit in February, the Dispatch Licensee, whose share in the purchase of balancing electricity was 0.03%, has bought the losses.
