From March 30, 2019, the Electricity Market Operator has registered the “ENERGY INVESTING AND TRADING COMPANY” LTD to take part in the wholesale trade as a Small Power Plant in the part of “ORO” HPP, in accordance with the “Electricity (Capacity) Market Rules”.
From March 29, 2019, the Electricity Market Operator has cancelled the registration of “ENERGY INVESTING AND TRADING COMPANY” LTD, in the part of ORO HPP, as a Power Plant - During the Test Run and/or a Comprehensive Testing and in accordance with the “Electricity (Capacity) Market Rules”, it is no more considered as a wholesale trade participant.
On March 29, Vakhtang Ambokadze, General Director of the Electricity Market Operator (ESCO) participated in the ceremony of completion of joint training program of ISET Policy Institute, USAID/Georgia and G4G and awarding traders with the certificates.
From March 21, 2019, the Electricity Market Operator has registered the “ENERGY INVESTING AND TRADING COMPANY” LTD (in the part of ORO HPP) to take part in the wholesale trade as Power Plant - During The Test Run And/Or Complex Testing, in accordance with the “Electricity (Capacity) Market Rules”.
In February 2019, the quantity of balancing electricity, purchased (sold) through ESCO was 222 560 590.8 kWh, which represents 21% of total delivery to the grid in mentioned month. The cost of balancing electricity have made up GEL 30 411 281.8.

In February, the Weighted Average Price of balancing electricity per kWh made up 13.6642708 Tetri, while the price of balancing electricity of the deregulated hydro power plants was 10.614 Tetri.
On March 12, 2019, in order to purchase the training services for the personnel of ESCO’s Metering Control Department, a tender SPA 190001512 was announced with an estimated cost of GEL 1 020.
The deadline for submission of tender offers ends on March 20, 2019, at 12:30.
From February 25, 2019, the Electricity Market Operator has registered the “FSHAVI HYDRO” LTD to take part in the wholesale trade as a Small Power Plant in the part of “SKURDIDI” HPP, in accordance with the “Electricity (Capacity) Market Rules”.
Georgian Government will carry out one-time delivery of electricity from Russia to Occupied Abkhazia
In order to prevent the Enguri HPP from overloading and maintain an optimal balance, a short-term contract was signed between the Electricity Market Operator (ESCO) of Georgia and “Inter RAO”. According to this contract, in March 2019, to cover the deficit, 45 million kWh of electricity will be delivered to occupied Abkhazia, which is 20% of the annual consumption of occupied Abkhazia..
From February 15, 2019, the Electricity Market Operator has registered the “SVANETI HYDRO” JSC (in the part of MESTIACHALA 2 HPP) to take part in the wholesale trade as Power Plant - During The Test Run And/Or Complex Testing, in accordance with the “Electricity (Capacity) Market Rules”.
On 15-16 February, 2019, Mr. Vakhtang Ambokadze, the General Director of ESCO participated in a seminar and discussions dedicated to the commitments undertaken by Georgia after gaining the membership of Energy Community. The workshop was organized by the Georgian Parliamentary Committee on European Integration at Radisson Blue Tsinandali and supported by Conrad Adenauer Foundation of. Mrs. Tamar Tsurtsumia, Head of ESCO’s International and Investor Relations Department, also participated in the seminar as an energy expert.
