ESCO has been awarded the international standard ISO 27001 certifikate

As a result of the successful measures implemented and the significant work carried out to enhance cybersecurity, the Electricity Market Operator (ESCO) has been awarded the ISO 27001 certificate — an international standard for information security management.
In today’s energy sector, one of the most pressing challenges is ensuring data protection and compliance with cybersecurity standards. In accordance with Georgian legislation, ESCO is classified among organizations possessing first-category information systems, which entails the introduction of flexible systems for information security and quality management, the raising of staff awareness, and the organization’s readiness to prevent and effectively respond to cyberattacks.
During the preparation and implementation of the ISO 27001 certification process, ESCO cooperated with the World Bank’s Energy Mission, whose goal is to support the energy sector in strengthening energy security and to assist companies in aligning their information systems with international standards.
ISO 27001 is a universally recognized international standard in the field of Information Security Management Systems (ISMS). It sets the highest requirements for data protection and risk management. The awarding of this certificate confirms that ESCO fully complies with both international cybersecurity standards and Georgian legislation, enabling the company to respond effectively to security challenges.
The Electricity System Commercial Operator (ESCO) is the central component of Georgia’s energy market, ensuring the transparent and secure operation of the wholesale electricity market.
